John Blaney Irish Artist

Down Cathedral and the Quoile by John Blaney oil on canvas 30x20 inchesJohn Blaney is a 43 year old artist from County Down, Northern Ireland with exceptional talent.John remembers painting, and having a passion for painting from a early age, a passion that has remained with him over the years. Having never received any formal training, John certainly has no difficulty in capturing the immediacy of landscape which is very prominent in his work.

Originally from Downpatrick John now resides in Dromara where he is a familiar figure around the area, in fields and on lanes, or simply on the roadside with his easel always stimulated and motivated by his surroundings and environment.

John paints directly from nature - nature being the fountainhead of all knowledge and in the words of Constable: ' The attainment of nature with simplicity and truth.'
Inspiration is drawn from the countryside, and painting directly from nature, John believes it is the direct and intimate contact with nature which helps create the unique feeling which is the only thing that matters in order to deepen vision.

Painting requires patience, love and contemplation in order to allow truth to come through in work and not contrivance.

John shares an affinity with the landscape and constantly strives to uncover truth which undoubtetly shines through in his work.

The galleries show John's latest works which capture the essential essence of truth in landscape.
